History: Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes (aka War Machine) is Tony Stark's best friend who is well aware of what he is doing and an officer of the US Armed Forces. He is Iron Man's partner as War Machine and later, a member of the New Avengers.

His early life is largely unknown but it's stated that he joined the U.S. military and became good friends with Tony Stark and Pepper Potts in their first meeting.

When Tony gave the heavily armed version of the Mark II armor to his best friend, Rhodey took the name War Machine and joined Iron Man in various heroic missions.

When the news report of the battle between Ultimo and Iron Man in California was spread, Rhodey was frustrated that Tony didn't ask for his help. Rhodey stated that he should be helping the military and S.H.I.E.L.D. but Tony refuses to listen.

Back in Stark Tower, Rhodey told Pepper not to worry, but she replied that she wasn't worried about that, she was worried about Tony, but realized why he must do this alone.

After Tony came back to the armory and removed his armor, Rhodey stated to Tony that he can't do this all alone and that Iron Man needs backup, but Tony didn't believe him and left his Iron Man armory.

Personality: Rhodey's personality is that of a concerned friend to Tony Stark, especially now that he's Iron Man. He argued that he should be helping S.H.I.E.L.D. and the military to make the world safer. He is Tony's best friend and even after all the trouble and grief Tony gives him, he wants to keep Tony safe (even/especially from himself). Rhodey often acts as a bodyguard for Stark.

Abilities & Resources: Rhodey, like Tony, has no superhuman powers but has the impressive, massive firepower as War Machine. He is also a trained military officer and combatant, which only adds to his armor's capabilities, making him a force to be reckoned with.

The War Machine platform possess a variety of heavy weapons and firepower, which was added to the original Mark II armor. The arsenal consists of heavy guns and missiles to do the job of taking out foes at long range.
